20 Seconds, Once a Week: No. 2, with Sidonie Ronfard
The Paris-based photographer reflects on the fluid space where photography, installation and sound intersect.
Welcome to another edition of 20 Seconds, Once a Week, on Substack. In our second weekly newsletter Daniel Melfi interviews French artist and photographer Sidonie Ronfard, who contributed the photo essay “Ode to Acceptance” in 20 Seconds Issue 4.
Ronfard is an artist working in the fluid space where photography, installation and sound intersect to reflect her ongoing investigations into intimacy and the power of shared perception. Citing influences such as a humanistic interpretation of scientific phenomena and fields of study like astrology, geology and astrophysics, as well as the materiality of photochemical film, Ronfard’s personal experience is inextricable from her work as a photographer. In this interview Melfi and Ronfard explore what she’s been up to since 20 Seconds Issue 4, where she’s going and how she feels about getting there.
