20 Seconds, Once a Week: No. 4, with Mariana Berezovska
The Berlin-based journalist and creative director speaks on TIES and Rybachka.
Welcome to another edition of 20 Seconds, Once a Week, on Substack. This week, Daniel Melfi speaks to journalist, creative director and co-founder of Borshch Magazine, Mariana Berezovska. Borshch, which is a print publication for electronic music on and beyond the dancefloor, has evolved into one of Berlin’s most original sound-oriented publications since its foundation in 2017. Berezovska’s innate disposition for telling personal stories honestly—and without the frills of so much modern music journalism—combines well with her active presence in Berlin’s music communities and fuels an increasing attention to her voice and perspective. Melfi and Berezovska speak about her latest projects, including the creative direction of audiovisual performances like Rybachka, as well writing workshops for the TIES initiative and sustaining communities in times of crisis.
